She said that Mr. Jones had wanted to contact his son, Walter S. Jones, but she would not give him any information as to his whereabouts. So he apparently was alive when she died in January 1981.⁵
     According to the 1930 US Census for Beat 4, McComb City, Pike County, MS, Walter Jones Jr. worked in a cafe prior to 3 April 1930, but was unemployed at the time of the census enumeration. Since the same census indicates that his father, Walter C. Jones, owned his own cafe but was also unemployed at the time of the census enumeration, it is likely that Walter Jones Jr. worked in his father's cafe, which went out of business.⁴ Walter Jones Jr. was enumerated as the son of Walter C. Jones on the 1930 US Federal Census for Household Number 42, Family Number 52, Enumeration District 57-10, McComb City, Pike County, Mississippi, on line number 69, sheet number 3B. The census taker was Mrs. R. G. Burt. Their residence was given as 927 Avenue D, McComb City, Pike County, Mississippi. Walter Jones Jr. was listed as a white male, aged 20 on his last birthday. His marital status was given as "Single". He did not attend school within the last year. He could read and write and speak English. His place of birth and that of both is parents was given as Mississippi. His occupation was given as "Cafe" with no industry listed. His class of worker was "N" (Employee). He was listed us being unemployed at the time the census was taken. His number on the Unemployment Schedule was 13-1A. Since his father, Walter C. Jones, was shown on the census as a cafe owner (also unemployed though), it can be postulated that Walter Jones Jr. had, prior to the 1930 census, worked in his father's cafe.⁴ He lived with Walter C. Jones and Henrietta (?) on 3 April 1930 at 927 Avenue D, McComb City, Pike, Mississippi, United States.⁴

This differs from the information provided by her son, Walter Singleman Jones, in his memoir of his mother's life. His information stated that she was born in the Sartinville Community, Marion County, Mississippi, on the same date -- 5 June 1909. Need to research the area and find out exactly where Magnolia is in comparison to the area known informally as the Sartinville Community -- I'm sure it is not far.^7,8,9,10,3 She was the daughter of Jessie Augustus Reid and Dolly Olivia Greer.^3,4,5,6 Bronis Suadrey Reid married Earl Albert Fitzpatrick, son of Michael Joseph Fitzpatrick and Annie Ledwidge, on 21 July 1945 at New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, United States. Although Bronis Reid Fitzpatrick and her husband, Earl Fitzpatrick, did not live together after 1959, they were never divorced. This was the author's understanding during Mrs. Fitzpatrick's lifetime -- Mrs. Fitzpatrick inherited property upon Mr. Fitzpatrick's death -- and was supported by the marital status of "Widowed" shown on Mrs. Fitzpatrick's death certificate.^{11,12,1,13,8,14} Bronis Suadrey Reid died on 28 January 1981 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, McComb, Pike County, Mississippi, United States, at age 71. She never recovered from her illness and died on the afternoon of 9 October 2000. Her son (Dallas Bruce), daughter-in-law (Virginia Bruce), granddaughter (Sandra Villa) and great-grandson (Robert Villa) were with her when she passed away. They said that they were talking to her and she laid her head back, closed her eyes and was gone. According to her death certificate, Viola May Dishman was pronounced dead at 12:17 PM, 9 October 2000. Her body was flown to Medford, Oregon, for burial near her daughter, Wanda Hamer in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon.

The second obituary appeared in the Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune on 13 October 2000. This obituary read as follows:

"The graveside service for Viola May Dishman will be at 2 p. m. today at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Ms. Dishman, 86, formerly of Talent and Medford, died Monday (Oct. 9, 2000) at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Huntington, W. Va., where she had been visiting her sister.

She was born Feb. 13, 1914, in Huntington, W. Va., a daughter of Elmer and Leona (Smith) Chandler.

Mrs. Dishman lived in California from 1952 to 1989, when she moved to Talent. In 1996, she moved to Medford and then to Louisiana in 1999 to be near her daughter.

Survivors include a son, Dallas Bruce, Gold Hill; a daughter, Iona Jones, Kenner, La; a sister, Isabelle Stewart, Huntington, W. Va; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Arnold Bruce; a daughter, Wanda Hamer; a brother, Orrie Chandler; and two sisters, Evelyn Friley and Luella Ross.

On the death certificate of Viola May Dishman the cause of death is given as "Acute Myocardial Infarction" with "Stroke, Recent GI Bleeding" listed as other significant factors.
