Governor of said State in the full and Just sum of five hundred Pounds [Proc.] money; to be Paid to the said Richard Caswell, Esq. Governor and his Successors to which Payment well and Truly be made we bind Ourselves Our Heirs Executors and Administrators Jointly and Severally firmly by these Presents Sealed with our Seals and Dated this 14th day of August AD 1779.

The Condition of the above Obligation is such that Whereas the above bound Jesse Greer have the Day above written made application for a Marriage License to be granted Between him the said Jesse Greer and Judah Hampton of said County; Now if there is no Lawfull Cause to Obstruct said Marriage for which such License is desired and the said marriage be in every Respect Lawfull; then this Obligation to be Void Otherwise to Remain in full force and Virtue"

Mr. Crumley's information indicates that there may have been TWO brothers in this Greer family named John. However, his research indicates that the John Greer he is researching was born in 1764 and married a woman named Elizabeth. He has no birth date other than the 1758 estimate for the other John. It is possible that there were two brothers named John, however, none of my other research indicates this possibility. It is more likely that there was one John Greer in this family who married a woman named Elizabeth and might have been born in 1764..

     William Boyd Sr. was born in 1814 at Tennessee, United States.1 He married Mary E. (?) at Mississippi, United States.2 William Boyd Sr. died after 7 November 1850.1
     William Boyd, Sr., was enumerated as a head of household on the 1850 US Federal Census for Pike County, Mississippi on 7 Nov 1850 by Sampson L. Lamkin, Assistant Marshal. His age was given as 36, which would make his year of birth 1814. His occupation was given as "Farmer" and his place of birth as "Tennessee". He was enumerated as owning real estate worth $100.00 as of 1850. According to the census, he could read and write.3 He may be the same person as Andrew Boyd. Anderson Boyd was enumerated as a member of the William Boyd, Sr., household on the 1850 US Census for Pike County, Mississippi. His position on the census indicates that he was the son of William Boyd, Sr., and Mary E. Boyd, however, "Greer Family History Notes" gives the name of Anderson Boyd's father as Andrew Boyd. This could indicate that either the name given in "Greer Family History Notes" was incorrect or that Andrew Boyd died prior to 1850 and Anderson Boyd was living with a relative other than his father. Further research will be required to clarify this relationship.3,4
